Dyson...

Today in class review chapter 1 find text references for your chosen theme: pride in his heritage, honesty, trust, forgiveness, maturity, love. These ideas led to a few parenthetical themes: regret, remorse, guilt.

Secondly, for homework, students were to continue looking for text references and then develop three thesis sentences on one theme. Bring to class Tuesday. We will develop an outline using: 1 in-text citation, 1 paraphrase, and 1 block quote.

Start reading the next chapter and making notations, most students didn't have a summary or vocabulary log. Get with it. You will turn the log in with your essay on the book.

Remember, I am not here Wednesday and Thursday. I am checking to see if I can get L-202E for the 8-9 AM class. I will let you know tomorrow. Wednesday class, I'll let you know the plan this afternoon. I want to go to see MacB this Sunday. More is forthcoming.

Racial Pride/Pride in Heritage

-From the moment he was born and to the night of his unfortunate departure, Tupac inherits his pride of his own culture from his own mother, and benefits from it throughout his life.

-Tupac continuously learns about his heritage from his mother from music, the life she went through herself, and the experience his family went through themselves.

-The amount of stress and emphasis of heritage and race that Afeni enlightens to Tupac makes him proud of who he is and what his family experienced.

Trust

-Tupac loves and respects his mother enough to know that he will always be able to trust her and tell her about anything that is bothering him.

-Tupac and his mother are forever bonded to each other and help and trust each other to get through the everyday struggles of life.

-The relationship between Tupac and his mom and the trust that they have for each other is a good example of what a mother son relationship should be in life.

-Trust, or rather, the inability to trust, would become a recurring theme in the short life of slain contemporary rap ziggurat, Tupac Shakur.

In human beings, the capacity for trust is introduced very early on by the people closest to them, most often by their parents or parental figures. - With an absent father, and a mother whose love and protection may or may not come, slain rap idol Tupac Shakur's capacity for trust was tenuous at best, waxing and waning like tides uncertain of fully coming into the shore; unable to trust what they may find once there.
