Thursday, Sept. 11 Freewrite post and recap

Today was hard, perhaps this is why I am posting the reflection the day after. I hope this didn't inconvenience you too much, those of you who wanted to post the reflection and didn't have anywhere to do so.

In situations like this, write it and save it on your personal blog, and then you can post it later. It's always better to write while the experience is fresh.

Thomas shared a pink pig, his object symbolic of the misplaced loyalty or love patriotism can elicit without good cause.

His example was that of the chimera and its history. He didn't have a photo so he brought in a pink piggy. Visit this website for a definition and drawing of the mythical creature: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/chimera.

Homework is to post one's narrative for the presentation. (Post it where the assignment is given. That's where your photos all are.) For students unable to present today, we'll continue Monday, September 15. The English 201 class which meets in the afternoon, we'll complete this assignment before my 8-9.

We had a freewrite about peace and I asked students to comment on each others' reflections. Post your freewrite here, then comment on someone else's.

Freewrite: "Imagine Peace"

Imagine Peace
Peace is like Clear blue Sky
Birds fly high
Flowers all over the ground
Everywhere you look, they're all around
People coming together
Never have to say see you later
No hate in this place
No hurts in this Earth
No worries of the monies
This is Peace
When there's no Ly sh

Peace

Peace to me looks like fluid motion, everything fitting into place with no problems. It looks like a vision which is in harmony. Everyone getting what they want without the need to use violence or blood also. Peace looks like happyness which is everyone smiling and enjoying themselves. It is also serene and very quiet except for birds chirping and water flowing. Peace has no negatives. Peace tastes sweet and makes you want to close your eyes and chew softly to really get the full flavor. It feels soothing like a soft wind or cool blankets. It is everything you want it to be.

San Saechos interpretation of peace is about the same as mine. It describes a paradise where the sun and everything else is bright. The power of nature really shows and religions believe that this will one day be a reality.

Peace

Peace is such a vague concept nowadays. We would think that peace would look like the sign, the circle with the lines that look like an upside-down Y, but we've incorporated that symbol as a hippie's sign. We can think of peace signs, but it is now a greeting. Peace can appear how the community appears. Peace is suppose to represent an agreement with everyone, being content, no major conflicts with our society. It also means that we have honesty and trust with one another. Obtaining this concept of peace is either difficult or imporbable, but not impossible.

San's Peace

San's representation of peace is like a utopia, a perfect world. I really like the concept, because everyone wants some sort of utopia in their life.

Freewrite: Peace

Peace is being in total comfort. No worries about the consequences, because they dont exsist. No enemies, tension, or drama. Just total relaxation. I imagine peace sounding like kids playing games in the streets. Smelling the crisp clean air, that hasn't been polluted with negativity and foul language. The joy of laughter mixed with a pinch of of honey.

See this is why I dont like taking pictures

Peace is a thing only achievable through universal equality. That is, until all people and nations are content with what they each have. Its probably for this reason why peace is such an impossible concept. This is only further strained by human desire and the capacity this has to ignite conflicts amongst one another. To desire something is a natural thing, but as is the nature of the world we live in, things stand in the way of these wants and as such compel us to fight against them in order to achieve our wants. With so many different people in the world there are thus bound to be desires and ideals that and stand in the way of other desires and ideals. It must be then, that the world is in a constant shifting of desires and ideals grinding and mashing against each other. Perhaps that will always be. That, however, does not work to discount or remove our responsibility to constantly work towards peace. That peace is never quite fully achievable is not the point. But just as there are those who desire to work against peace, there will always be those who will choose to fight for it. Such is the nature of the world that we live in.

Peace is an imagination. we can feel or imagine about peace but u can't touch or see it. when you are in peace, you feel free and relax. Peace can also lead to war. People fight for what they belive in. And some of those people will resort into violence to fight for what they think is right, and they think it will end up in peace.

PEACE!!!

Peace look like a world of civilized people where their are no tpyes of crime, violence, or any other disruption from any sorts of disaster . What peace taste like is the air that we breathe and the taste of freeness and freedom throughout the world. It feels like joyness to your skin like refreshed and breezy and stuff. Peace sound like the wind blowing and the fresh breeze in our life. And yes, that is what i considered peace in the world to me and everyone else. Thats it.

Free Write (Peace)

In my eyes peace isn’t really an object, or something that can be seen. It’s simply just a state of mind or being. If it were able to be tasted, it’ll be one of those flavors that every time you bite into it, it brings a sense of joy and happiness throughout your body. It feels warm inside and out, from the heart, mind, body, spirit, and ultimately through the soul. I believe that the concept of peace is possible, this isn’t something that’s right or wrong, you cant a person what exactly peace is because everyone has their own.
