Women's History Month Reflections Cyber-Post

As a freewrite today we reflected on women in our lives who we honor or respect. Begin to post these reflections here starting today. Each day you can reflect on the same woman or on a different woman. Three posts a week would be great. At the end of the month, you can compile the reflections and give to this woman.

These are affirmations or positive reflections, not that all experiences with women have been such. Again, as in all posts, respond to each other.

This month, if students want to get extra credit feel free to bring in music, poetry, art, and other media to share by women you know. If it is something printed or musical (lyrics) bring enough copies to share with students. I can make copies if you let me know in advance.

You can post these extra credit assignments here also and responses to the presentations. If you like, we can have a Women's History Month Party and presentation midway through the month. Let me know.

Women history month with a reflection on women you admire and honor.

A woman that I admire is my mother. I love her so much, she’s my best friend. I look up to her; she shows me the right path in life. I always go to my mom for help when needed, she is someone I could count on; also I could talk to her almost about anything. My mom always encourages me, if it wasn’t for her I don’t think I could accomplish the things I’ve done until now. She is an inspiration, I have a lot of thing like my mom, for example, honesty, kind caring, helpful etc. My mother is someone I could always come to, she teaches me from right and wrong. I’m thankful for my mother.

The woman I admire and value most is my mother. She had an extremely rough life and growing up she didn't know her biological mother. At the age of 10, she had to cook, clean, and take care of all her younger brother and sisters. She did not grow up in a happy home and yet whenever I see her now, she's always happy and smiling. She's never given up on me when others given up on me and she is truly a blessing.

A woman that I admire most is my mother. She is a god to me. She is the most beautiful, intelligent, smart, and strong woman on this earth. She has been through a lot life experience and she never give up on something very easily. I love her to death and she is my best friend. We are only 20 years apart, and she is my everything. I tell her everything that what’s going on in my life, and I trust her very much. I think we have the bestest mother and daughter relationship.

I admire my mom because she’s always been there for me. She is a very strong women, when I was born in 1990 in January her mom who is my grandmother passed away a month after I was born. The way she stayed strong through that was incredible, maybe the birth of me eased her pain. She always there when I need her, I can talk to her about anything that’s going on in my life, I don’t have to hide anything from her which is a plus.

A WOMAN I ADMIRE

The woman I admire most is my grandmother. She was very kind-hearted in such a way that she would put her needs and wants to the side just to take care of the family's needs and wants. She was a strong woman and helped out a lot around the community. In her younger days, she helped deliver meals to seniors around her nieghborhood with a company called Portable Meals, which helped seniors and seniors with disabilities, get full course meals without having to leave the house. My grandmother also took care of over 100 children that were subjected to the foster care system. Whether it was 2 days or 2 years, if you were a child placed in my grandmother's home she treated you like you were her own. My grandmother died March 2005, but her compassion, love, and kind-heartedness lives on.

I would like to share the image of a woman who gives me a different perspective about my vision of the world. She was always tempting me to dream in different languages, and by saying that, she meant, to have the courage to picture myself traveling the world. Her name is Alicia, and from time to time we still write to each other, remembering those afternoons filled with learning, practice and frustration. She would always teach with her own example, sharing histories and some field trips. She was my foreign language teacher: Thank you Ms.Larroude!

The women I admire and values the most in my life is my mother. She is the greatest person I ever known. When she young, she didn’t have much like I do right now. Because she was the oldest among her siblings, she has to take care all of them, from cook to clean at a young age, and she couldn’t even go to school with that kind of living time. My mother is a strong woman. She never did give up, even though when she have to migrate from Vietnam to China. She is the best; she never did give up on me and my other siblings. My mother would joke around with me, and we would always have fun talking about anything.

I know it sounds cliche' but the first woman that comes to mind would be my mother. Even though we haven't always had the greatest relationship, I respect my mother. I feel she has had a difficult time trying to be a single mother head of house hold, trying to raise 2-3 of us at a time. Not able to make the money that she wanted to help raise us, feeling like she couldn't provide for us the way she wanted, not being able to giving us the things that other children had growing up.. I honor my mother for I feel that it was not easy for her to raise us. And I know she wanted things for us she couldn't provide, but she would always try her best. She would always do her best to make sure we had food on the table, and a roof over our head. She always tried to raise us in the best neighborhoods she could even though she couldn't afford it. Trying everything she could to keep us out of the ghetto. She encouraged us kids to do our best and to get a well education, and to be the best person we could be. Even though my mother feels like she had a hard time to provide for us; life is not always fair to any of us, and I know she did the best she could to raise us kids. Since I am the eldest I have the most responsibilities and have been more or less "the man of the house" growing up..helping taking care of the girls and helping around the house and with supper. I understand life can be unfair and my mother was not given the best hand dealt to her in life; but I felt I was meant to be raised by my mother and she needed us as well. I do admit I wasn't given all the opportunities I would have liked as a child or now but when I look back on it I would never have it any other way..\
Sincerely
Mr. Timothy E~

Free write: Women I admire

Another Person I admire is my cousin, she’s my age. My cousin and I do everything together since we were kids. She helps me through problems and I would do the same. We show each other love by caring helping and supporting each other through everything. She always lends a hand when I have no one else to count on. From growing up, schooling, working etc. She knows everything there is to know about me and I know the same about her. My cousin is pretty much like my other half. We always have fun when we hang out, there’s never a dull moment when were together. I love my cousin, she is one the most important people in my life.

I guess it's natural to think first of the woman who gave us life when deciding on a suitable woman to pay tribute. I know so few women in my family. Before I was born my maternal grandmother died and I never met my paternal grandmother, though I did speak to her on the phone a number of times when I was a child. It would have been nice to be around these strong women who gave my mother the inner fortitude to be able to accomplish all she has accomplished from bearing me at 15 to taking her GED and earning enough to support two children and some times a spouse, my father, plus sending money to siblings elsewhere.

My mother is generous and selfless. She is my Mother Teresa, taking care of the sick and infirm, friend and stranger.

My mother is not perfect, but when we lived with her we never went hungry and we always had a roof over our heads; she took us to the movies and concerts, enrolled me in art classes, and made sure I had nice clothes and felt good about myself as a big girl (read chubby or fat) and later as a young woman in a community American society isolated and feared out of ignorance.

I missed my mother when she left when I was 15 without a trace, but she's back in my life now and I have learned to forgive her and feel blessed each day that she is here because I literally owe my life to her.

When I think about a woman's right to choose, and I honor this right, I think about my mother's choice: me.

The only woman in the World who is always inside my heart is, my mom, eventhough I missed her.She is still alive with full spirit.Death is meaningless for me when I think about her, because it is rest.I didnot fully spent my life with her because of distance.I missed those days and nights that I should live and get love from my mom.I think that is one of the reasons that I love her so much. She was the only one who adviced me to be a nice person, polite, hard worker, and respect all species throghout my life.I hope, I will see her by that time when I follow behind. Her spirit is inside my heart to do whatever,to go wherever and to have everything in a right way that God likes. She was strong to raise all her children and now I am.

I would say one of my best friends is one of the women I admire. She‘s a wise friend of mine who is really honest and mature. She tells the truth whether it’s right or wrong, on my opinion and decisions I make, that’s one of the important thing I like about her. She’s is a sweet hearted, and caring person, she always worries about me and helps me also. She always knows what to say when I’m stuck; I admire her and her personality.

The woman I admire the most is my mother. Every since I can remember my mother has always been there for me. Not one time has she walked away from me during the hard times iin my life. She is the definition of a real woman. When my grandmother passed away April 28th 2008, my mother was there in the hospital when she took her last breath. If that isn't strength I don't know what is. My mother is a phenominal woman, hard working and dedicated to being productive even through the hard times.

My mother is someone that I honor and respect the most. Without her, I wouldn’t be here. I realized how much she means to me through these past years. I used to argue with my mom, I never listens to her, I never shows that I care for her. I feel like all the arguments we had, she just want to yell at me. Most definitely, I never respected her. Finally, times passes, people change, and life goes on. I noticed how much I have mature. I realize all the things that my mom did is for my own good and she yells at me to give me advices and teach me how to be a better person. I has over looked what she did for me.
I believe its hard to stay nice with a person, but no matter what, yet she’s the woman who took care of me and been there for me. I just ignore her when I get frustrated and wont yell back anymore, I listens to her all the time and respect her. Because whenever she’s mad at me, there will be something missing inside of me. I can never ever picture her being away from me, I want to be near her and protect her. I want my mom to be happy. I may once act silly, but all I can say is I can leave the past behind and enjoy every moment with my love ones.

I love my mom more then anything,She is the one thing i see to live for. She is the best mom anybody can wish for. I have learned a lot from her. Throughout the years she has always told me to stay out of trouble, and she has supported me whenever i asked for support. No one in the world like her would worry about me the way she does. She has raised me to be strong and a good person.
