Afternoon Class Cyber-Assignment

Today in class we spent much of the time running exercises, which I don't mind doing, but only if there are questions. I don't like to spend class time doing the homework. Please do the exercises on your own time in the Writing Center, with a tutor, at Study Hour on Thursdays. We are up to Essay 2 and this class is behind because instead of working on templates during class time, we did exercises. If you missed class make sure you have identified the correct errors for Essay 2: Pronoun Agreement.

I also handed out copies of the syllabus. Please respond to it by Thursday, Sept. 24.

Some students want to take the quizzes we completed last week. I'll have copies Wednesday, as for them.

We did have the opportunity to read the poem: In the Depths of Solitude: Dedicated to Me. We developed four thesis sentences. Students were to develop a 5 sentence paragraph using one of the sentences. Use evidence from the poem to support the claim. If you'd like to include a quote--just one, that's fine. We will read the preface, introduction and forward in Rose, so bring the book to class. I also handed out more copies of Chapters 2-3 from Holler. Make sure you are have read Chapters 1-3 by Wednesday also.

We will be responding to these chapters on Wednesday in A-205. We will also be posting Essay 2 after peer reviews on Wednesday. The final draft will be due by Friday, Sept. 25 via email. For those students who are behind, Essay 1 is due by tomorrow at 12 noon. Identify yourself in the subject line: NAME English 201 1-2:50 PM SPHE Essay 1. (This makes it easier to do a search.)

This poem, "In the Depths of Solitude" is one more instance or example of what Michael Eric Dyson calls Tupac's emotional duality.

Tupac never compromised his values, yet he wanted to be accepted.

Solitude is a theme he explores in this poem.

Solitude is a place where there is no peace, according to Tupac.

In the poem “In the depths of solitude a poem he dedicated to himself; Tupac explores the theme solitude. According to his poem, he exists in “the depths of solitude” searching for his true goal. However, he also talks about two personalities inside of him, “… when there R 2 inside of me”. In tupacs life solitude plays a big role, even though big influences surrounded him he still felt lonely inside. It seems like he wanted to find the accurate person or personality that he would have brought out for the rest of his life. There are lots o concepts hidden behind poem almost like a hieroglyphic stone being deciphered.

In the Depths of Solitude

Tupac never compromised his values, yet wanting to be accepted by everyone. It seems Tupac was constantly searching his soul for peace, goals, and spiritual awareness, while seeking the rich and famous life style. Did he find it before his passing? We may never know. What I took away from this is that Tupac was an old soul, with so much wisdom and knowledge that he needed to share with the world. Tupac was a realist, who reminded us to live, speak truth and never compromise.

Solitude is a theme he explores in this poem. In the poem "In the Depths of Solitude" he said that he has two personalities, and he wanted people to accept his too personalities. In a way like giving him a peaceful place to be himself, free from judgement. Also he wanted to be accepted so that he wont be lonely. But on the second stanza he is saying that how can he get peace if there is two of him, which causes him chances. Overall I think this poem basically tell us of what Tupac was and what he wanted the most

Solitude is a theme he explores in this poem. It seem like Tupac really want people to accept him and find peace of mind. But at the same time he feels isolated and lonely because he is yearning to be accepted and be respected. His two goals keep getting him deeper into solitude, which will push him more toward feeling alone. It seem like Tupac was in a confuse state of mind and just wanted to be “respected and accepted” as a human.

Free Write: “In the Depths of Solitude” By Tupac Shakur

Solitude is a place where there is no peace, according to Tupac Shakur. Shakur had gone through many difficulties when he was growing up. As he got older, he knew what he wanted to do, looking forward to change his life and bring peace to the world. But as he was getting to his goals, his life had ended, and brings him to an incomplete mission. All he wanted to bring to the word is peace. Because of the environment he grew up in, he felt like his world was a lonely place to be. There is no one around to hear him, so he knew that he has make peace in order to be known. Solitude is a lonely place, and where there are no people around, Shakur feel like there is no peace.

Solitude is a place where there is no peace, according to Tupac. This is mentioned in his poem “In the Depths of Solitude”, which he dedicated to his self. He just wanted to be accepted by every one. It is also said that he has two different side and all he want is for people to respect him

"In The Depths of solitude"

In this peom, Tupac wanted to state that he, having two side of him, two mind that doing the exact different. Figuring out the truth of his goal and risking it all away for his own self. Having one side moving faster then the other telling others to accept simplicity. That is what i think Tupac meant about the depth of solitude, being alone deep inside with no one around to hear him.

Sometimes I Cry

Tupac feels a lot of pain from his growing up and the life style his family went through. The tears he cried was a way for him to release his inter most pain, the path he has taken is not easy at times he finds it hard to carry on. In life Tupac would cry among his treasured friends but he wanted so much to help others carry on. Our world moves so fast sometimes it passes u by and Tupac never found the time to see what what made him cry, “we humans know it’s painful to cry and sometimes he felt like no one even cares.”

This poem "In The Depths Of Solitude" is one more instance or example of what ME Dyson calls Tupacs emotional duality. Tupac is obviousley stressing in this poem that he feels like he is torn into two and he is some what confused on what his purpose and goal is. In the begening of the poem he says "I exist in the depths of solitude pondering my true goal" I bealive this is proof that Tupac had many goals maybe some of them conflicting and he wanted to find one true goal so he could go in one direction instead of many. Anothere part of the poem that really highlights Tupacs emotional duality is when he says " how can i be in the depths of solitude when there are two inside of me" Solitude is a state of seclusion or isolation and he is saying how can he be by his self when he is battling himself inside.

"In Depts of Solitude"

Tupac never compomised his values, yet he wanted to be accepted. He did not find this an easy task. How do you make people undestand you? On one side you have a very intellectual, smart, gifted, and talented young man that likes just the simple side of life. The other side their is a rough neck gangsta with money, cars, clothes, women, parties and loves the fast side of life.I can only imagine how hard it would be to find a median of the two lifestyles. I believe that "In Depts of Solitude" he was in progress of making his two personalities merge. Tupac's wanting to be accepted and respected by all; was his wish.

Tupac never compromised his values, yet wanted to be accepted. Tupac lived in a world where he had what seemed like two total opposite lives. In the public eye he was this gangster rapper but on the inside he was very intellectual and had many levels of depth to him. In the world Tupac lived in the two normally did not go hand-in-hand. I feel he never felt accepted among his peers because he never truly discovered himself fully. In his poem “In Depths of solitude” you can clearly see the conflict of his two worlds collide.
