Revision Strategies

In the film Revision Strategies “The Write Course” it explains to writers that it is not necessary to have a perfect sentence written down when they are at the process of writing. It takes a lot of rewriting, editing, revising, etc to have the paper turn out strong. In the film they helped define the difference between editing and rewriting because a lot of people think that they are the same thing, but it not. Rewriting is writing the paper so that reader can understand it by making sure that the points are made clearly. On the other hand, editing is just correcting grammars and changing words. I learned that there are four important guides to rewriting which are looking at the overall paper, seeing if it is organize, examine each paragraph, and focus on the sentences and words that are used. Also it is important to read it out loud yourself or have someone read it.

Revision Stratagies

In the film Revision startegies they talk about how people write without thinking about there audiance. The first step of revision should be to read your writing and try to read it from your readers perspective. Anothere thing you can do is avoid editing prematurley. Wait until you finish your entire essay then revise it. The experts also clearly made a distinction between editing and rewriting. Editing is just correcting the gramer and spell checking, while rewriting is actually changing points and arguments in your paper so the reader can understand it better. Editing shouldent be the only thing you foucus on because your writing could be gramaticaly correct but still be boring and dull.

Revision and Rewriting

In the short film Revision Strategies "The Write Course", tell us that the writer should focus more on revising their paper than editing, in order to have a strong and credible paper. The film showed a lot of techniques to revise an essay, also point out the difference between revising and rewriting. A paper that is not revised enough could lose the reader's attention. Revising and rewriting takes a lot of time. An essay that is revised very well for example has a perfect structure, the arguments are explained accurately and the paragraphs are well written. An essay that is edited could be still a little sketchy, since editing only affect the grammars and the words that are used in the essay, and the arguments are not explained accurately.

Although beginning writers according to experts "edit prematurely," they should complete the essay first because this allows them a chance to think about the work, and consider the audience in any revision.

Revision Strategies

The video Revision Strategy "The Write Course" talks about writing and revising. How to construct a good essay is to finish up your first draft and after finishing up that draft, you can start by rereading your essay, then edit it and revise the paper so you can turn in a better essay. It does not have to be perfect because no essay can be perfect. After words, you can read it out loud or have a friend to read it to see if it sounds ok.

Revision Strategies

Revision is different from editing. Revision is the process of rewriting and seeing it from an audience point of view. Editing is going over the paper to correct words and grammar. Beginning writers tend to write in first person to a response. Writers should point out their thesis, point, and argument in third person. Easy guides to rewriting are:

1.Look at the overall writing. Make sure the subject, and objective agree. Think of the audience.

2.Look at the organization of the paper. Make sure each paragraph follows in a logical order.

3.Examine each paragraph. Make the point clear in each paragraph.

4.Focus on each sentences and words. Make sure transitional sentences from each paragraph flow easily. Make sure the sentences make sense.

Writers often think that the first draft should be perfect. There’s always room to revise. After writing the paper, setting it aside for a few days then coming back to read the paper again with an open mind can open up to new ideas or errors that were not seen. Once the paper is done, reading it a loud should be no problem. This video was really helpful. It was easy to understand more about the difference between revising and editing and also how writers can easily revise their own paper.

Revision Strategies

The film Revision Strategies (The Write Course) gave great detail in regard to revision. This film catered toward unskilled and beginning writers. They spoke in clarity about the differences of revision, rewriting, reorganizing, editing and the overall look of a paper. The second thing was for unskilled writers to think and connect to their audience. Beginning writers tend to suffer from "The Perfect Draft Syndrome" which means they think their paper should have perfection on the first draft. However it is very natural to have several drafts, that is the beginning of a great paper. In order to accomplish a good/great paper we must rewrite and practice many times.

Thesis:

1.Although unskilled writers suffer from " The Perfect Draft Sydrome" according to the experts (The Write Choice) say only a genius can accomplish a perfect paper the first time.
2.Although many students confuse revising with editing, the two are very different. Revising acquires that the first draft is complete before going back to rearrange thoughts, think about the audience and examine the paragraphs for easy reading. Editing allows corrections for grammer and punctuation.

Revision Strategies

In the Film Revisions it was said that when young people write, they try to make there first essay perfect. In fact it takes 7 drafts to make an essay perfect. Things can be added and changed in a paper when making revisions. One can not expect to sit down and write a perfect paper. Revisions is to see again. We discover things as we go back to our essay that we did not notice the first time. The draft has to have order. Reading it out loud or having someone read it out loud is a good way to hear where there are some mistakes. More familar words is the better choice. The first step to revisions is to look at the paper overall. The second step is to look at the organization. The third step is to examine the paragraphs and the last step is to look at the setnce. This makes a better paper.

A good writer always reread or rewrites his paper. Some people always get confuse between editing and writing. Real writing starts when you are rewriting your paper. Most writer or beginner writer always takes rewriting or revision as a punishment. All writing process requires the writer to go back and reread the paper. Revision is a part of writing and is not a punishment. Most unskilled writer edit prematurely. In the beginning the writer might not be talking to the audience then after a little revision the writer focus his writing to the audience.

Although beginning writer according to expert edit prematurely they should complete the essay first because this allow you to look at the overall paper and objective.

Revision Strategies

In the film Revision Strategies "The Write course" it explains what are the most important strategies when rewriting a paper, or an essay. The whole basic of writing is re-writing.
I learned the guide to re-writing a paper:
• Look at the overall paper (the most important thing is to pay attention to subject, verb, and object.
• Look at the paper organization
• Examine each of the paragraphs
• Focus on sentence and words
These are the most important thing you should look at when re-writing your paper.

In class we watch the film Revision Strategies "The Write Course." Although there are many parts of the writing process, re-writing is the whole basis of writing a well written essay, because it allows you to think like your audience and try to convince them to agree with your point of view.
