Cyber-Post I Need Love

In Felicia Pride's book, The Message she reflects on what she calls 100 of hip hops greatest songs. In the section on love,we read "I Need Love," a chapter referencing LL Cool J's 1987 song by the same title. Pride writes about what the song meant to LL and what it means to her.

Now it's your turn to respond to the same. Read the song, if you haven't already done so, and write a three paragraph response to the axiom, human beings need love, what I think is an extension of the quote or song title.

Use 3 citations, 1 from Pride, 1 from the song and one from either of the two. One quote should be a free paraphrase. Don't forget to introduce the citation and put the page number in parentheses. For the song you can put the stanza or line.

Post the reflection here and respond to one classmate's post. Include a works cited page. See SPHE pages 311-322.

Recap on citations

Homework is to continue thinking about love, and its intangible and tangible manifestations, like forgiveness. Forgiveness is love.

Future Assignments
Look for another assignment on the theme of love over the following two weeks. The first will be an article or sermon by Martin Luther King to read (2/16 for 2/17).

Think about whether of not your agree with King about agape being the highest form of love; perhaps you favor philia or eros. This will be the freewrite topic on 2/17.

On Feb. 17, after the library orientation in the first hour, we will go to either A232 (10-12) or L-202E (1-3), to talk about student presentation on love, Feb. 22 and 24. Each student will bring in an object that represents love.

I Need Love by L L Cool J
Felicia Pride tries to persuade people that its alright to love & be loved. I agree with her I believe everyone is going to love & be loved in there Life time. I don’t understand why people are so Afraid to show there emotions to one another especially young men now days they believe Showing affection and saying or admitting there in love is “SOFT” in other words they begin to build a barrier and block there emotions from getting out. I like how Felicia stated that “She experienced two major heartbreaks” (F. Pride p144) it showed me that she notices that as time past she is growing up. To beable to admit that you’ve had your heart broken is a big step most people are so stuck in there ways of being portrayed as soft so they don’t express the way they feel or they may use previous heartbreaks as an excuse. You shouldn’t have to live your life with damage every heartache can be fixed. I can truly relate to that because I feel that I have grown as a young woman to admit my flaws and learn from my mistakes in life. As you experience different relationships it begins to get more tactical then when you were little.
When it comes to love, I’ve never been afraid to lay my feelings out. I have always been the type to express the way I feel when feeling a certain way rather I was in love or hurting inside. Now that I’m older and have experienced love its a beautiful thing. I mean who doesn’t want to be loved or felt loved. Everyone dreams about being in love with a significant other. LL Cool J stated in his song “I need Love” (that I can feel it inside, I can't explain how it feels. ) I feel him because sometimes you feel a certain way and cant describe the feeling but yet its still a feeling unable to be described and at times I feel like that. I feel the butterflies trembling inside me put yet can I actually put the feeling into words that’ll mean something when interpreted to someone.
Love is in the air it blossoms it blooms it’s a Disease that doesn’t kill but yet everyone wants that feeling to be considered special to someone. Caring is sharing and life is amazing so when the time is right don’t be afraid to say what’s on your mind and remember everyone needs LOVE 

I need love by LL cool J talks about him longing for a girl that he can fall in love with how his heart was broken and that he needs a girl who an make his life better. He talks about how he changed and he’s no longer a player he wants to settle down with her. “See I’ve changed, I’m no longer a playboy on the run, I need something hats stronger friendship, trust honor, respect admiration.” (Cool j) he talks about changing and he’s promising her that he will be different. This song is cute and from the heart, something guys might feel but to scared to talk about.
Felicia Pride tries to persuade people that it’s alright to be loved and love someone else. “As hip-hoppers, we pride ourselves on being survivors with me against-the-world attitudes…. There’s nothing more fly than sharing your world with someone who’s got you, mind body and soul.”(Pride 146). She explains how men feel fewer hood when they fall in love with a girl like they’re not man enough so they avoid it. I agree with her most men are scared and they do things to mess up the relationship especially when they have a good girl.
With me it’s me that was hurt an I put my guard up and not wanting to let a dude in I was mean an I pushed them away. As I’m getting older I’m learning I’ve been in a relationship for almost a year and I’ve opened up an d I’m trusting. We can both say I love you without any second guessing on if it’s real or not or any hesitations. Now I’m not afraid of it thanks to him and I love it. “You’re as soft as a pillow and I'm as hard as steel It's like a dream land, I can't lie I never been there
maybe this is an experience that me and you can share.” (cool j). Love is what you make of it its about opening up to that one person, making you both feel like its no one else but you too alone in a room staring at a wall lol.

In Felicia Pride’s reflection on LL Cool J’s “I Need Love” song, she talks about how it is okay for rappers to be in love. She also thinks that in the hip hop industry, they portray love as not cool. Pride thinks that love is a good thing and that people shouldn’t shy away from it. For instance, she said, “There’s nothing more fly than sharing your world with someone who’s got you, mind body, and soul.” By this she means the best thing that can happen to you is finding that one person that you can share everything with. I think that love is a great thing and I agree with Pride. I think that it is hard though to find that one person that you can share everything with forever. Also, I think that today in hip hop music, artists talk more about love and they don’t hide it.

LL Cool J, “I Need Love,” he feels lonely and he need that one person that he can connect deeply with. Plus, he is fantasying about that one girl that he wants to be with. In it, he says “Although I often reminsce I can't believe that I found a desire for true love floating around.” He looks back, and he has been with many other girls but now he wants love. I think that it is good that a guy actually sees that he needs love because not that many guys can say what they mean. Most rappers don’t talk about needing love and LL made it cool to talk about love in his music and express it.

Pride talks about how being in a bad relationship can affect a person views on love, but she believes that it should not be affected. “I may give up dating a rest, may swear off fools, and may do me for a period of time, but if love comes my way, I won’t resist it” Pride. She believes that you shouldn’t give up on love and that it is something not to run from but accept. I think that it is true that love is something that you should not give up on because of your past experiences. Its something that you have to experience a lot to find the right one.

I Need Love
Felicia Pride talk in her paper about how important is her mother in her life. After reading this paper, I think about my relationship with my mother especially when I was a teenager. It is so important to have a mother because when you became an adult you follow your mother steps. In my case, I understand Felicia Pride so much because people doesn`t understand the sacrifices that a mother can make for their kids until you became a mother. Because of that, later in life you have to give up so many things for your own kids.
When Pride said that her mom is her boxing coach I feel the same way because I moved to the USA when I was very young and I didn`t know basically nothing about life. Now that I am older and I am also a wife I understand so many things. My mother is my role model and I also can say that I love her, and I understand her so much. Every time I see her I try to provide for her the best of me as a person emotionally and materially.
The song I need love singed by LL cool J talks about a young boy feeling very needy for love and how much he needs to find a good woman to share his life. LL cool J also talks about that he doesn`t want to be a player anymore because he wants to give the best of him as a lover and also as a friend in a good relationship. In my opinion, L L cool J sound very romantic and I think that everybody need the same things than him with the person that we love.

I think the title of the song "I Need Love" can be diffined in maney ways. But I think in Cool J's cause he means being in a true relationship with someone.

Throughout the song he explains how he thinks people look at the word love. some people think that love makes you soft and you loose street credibility. But he says when it comes down to it everyone needs love. His atittude toward love is that its sincer and that money, power, and respect combined, can't touch the power of love.

Then on the other hand he says you also have to be careful on how far your willing to go for it, because it can make you miserable trying to hang on to something thats not worth it.

“I Need Love”
She was talking about our natural human desire. To love someone. I believe that everyone truly needs companionship. Whether you say you’re in love or not. The reason being is you probably see yourself having a family some day. To have a family you need a partner because from that day fourth you are always going to be tied to that person. That’s why people try to love the people that they have children with. Or you may be the type that may not want to get married and have kids. When you look into the far future I’m pretty sure you’re going to want someone with you while you go throughout life. So people need to be loved like the say “I need love”. This is not the type that comes from your parents, siblings, or even a family pet. It is a deeper connection outside your family with someone of the opposite sex.
“When I'm alone in my room sometimes I stare at the wall”. Both artists referred to this because it’s true. When you get out on your own in the real world and everyone leaves your house it’s just you sitting there. If someone was there and to love you then, you wouldn’t feel so alone. The reason being is because no one will be there during those times you want to come home and talk. If you ever need help doing something then it will just be all bad until someone comes and helps you. But if your lover was there you both could help each other and work as a team to get things done. Your life would become a lot easier.
As they both had stated it is not “cool” to be in love in this society. So many people put up barriers and act like they’re not in love and will never need love to be completely satisfied. When they really know deep down they need to be loved. “Inside my soul because my soul is cold one half of me deserves to be this way till I'm old. But the other half needs affection and joy.” See most people are just too afraid of getting hurt as bad as they did in the past. When people realize that they need to be loved, they will understand that when you have someone on your team to help you.

Ms Pride seems to me she,s talkin about how people act so hard when it comes to the word love. She is sayin that every needs it in there life to be happy. It is what sustains us I can agree with that. LL Cool J did lose a lot of street respect when he made that song, but that was his character. Like Keith Murray said “the most beutifullest thing in this world”.
When he made that song he was touring at the time with plenty of chances to find lust rather than love, but he felt alone at times. As rappers you have to fell like you just the hardest person in the world on the outside, but most rappers are sweet individuals. You can be the richest person in the world, but being alone with no one to share your wealth, or have you back mind, body and soul. In her opinion money, power, and respect cant top the power of love in her opinion.
I don’t understand why some people avoid love maybe its because of past things in persons life which drives them to believe that love is a bunch of garbage. Most people I no want to just be friends rather than be with one person. People that don’t believe in love are the peole that are lonely, unhappy, and disguise with something in there past. In my opinion peole hide it but everybody needs some form of love. It might just be family love, relationship love, or anything with a love on it. If you ever lost a love one before sometimes that does the trick on making peole not believe any more.

“I Need Love” – Free write

The song “I Need Love” by LL Cool J, portrays an insightful revelation by a big-time rapper, who not so surprisingly realizes one day that life is about more than “The Life”. These lyrics are compared and contrasted with Felicia Pride’s interpretation, which I, for the most part agree with. There is definitely something to be said for emotional growth as well as the evolution of the human character in this day and age. This is a small part of that.

“I hear my conscience call”, says LL Cool J. This is a telltale sign of his guilt and resulting personal transformation. Lamenting how he has acted and behaved in his past relationships, there is a realization of what he wants or needs in his life. It sounds like he’s growing up by breaking himself of the stereotypical mold of a player, or at least wants to. At the same time there is a sign of hope within him; wherein he remembers what it feels like to be close to someone, not only emotionally, but physically. Personally, although I am not in the hip-hop world I can understand and relate at my age as a man. Even so, I’m sure there are many women out there who can as well, all though much less would admit the “sowing of the oats” due to social stigmas with which we are brought up with. In any case, I can respect what he is attempting to get across and wonder how old he was when he realized its importance.

Most people would stay away from this sort subject, not wanting to offer much of themselves for fear of retribution or marginalizing. The world in which we live in can be a hard place. This was pretty well put by Felicia Pride as follows. “As hip-hoppers, we pride ourselves on being survivors with me-against-the-world attitudes. But it’s the relationships and intimacy we share with others that truly fulfill us”. She gets it, she really does.

LL Cool J, the rapper, in the lyrics “I hear my conscience call” professed his awakening on genuine love. His interpretation of love is someone with qualities of “friendship, trust, honor, respect and admiration”.

Pride, Felicia. “I Need Love.” The Message. Philadelphia: Thunder’s Mouth Press, 2007.
Pride asserts that love sustains, because “Relationships and intimacy with others fulfills us.” Although Pride has suffered two major heartbreaks; he is undeterred to risk being hurt again, in search of a love that connects in mind, body and soul. He cautioned that loneliness, obsession, or unhappiness could be misconstrued as love.

Love is so abstract that it takes a different meaning with each individual. The mass media tend to portray an over exaggerated image of love. I agree with Pride, that we all need love - a meaningful relationship, an outpouring of heart, mind and soul. To love is to bare oneself, and risk being hurt. For when there is no pain there is no growth.

“I need love” by LL Cool J & Response from Felicia

In Felicia’s reflection on the song “I need love” by LL Cool J this sentence“All I know is that at the end of the day, no matter how hard you are or how high that wall is you’ve built around you, in the harsh lives we lead, love is what sustains us.”Really stood out for me I definitely believe in this. People are so concerned with their image that people see of them, money, bills and materialistic things that they forget about the things and people that matter and that should be put first. For people all around the world who’s ever had a broken heart are scared to relive the pain they went through, so they put a guard up to protect themselves. I agree with Felicia completely love is what sustain us it can break us but when you’re loved it’s the best feeling in the world!!

In LL Cool J’s song “I need love” the verse that i mostly connected with was “gotta find me a girl to make my life complete You can scratch my back, we'll get cozy and huddle I'll lay down my jacket so you can walk over a puddle I'll give you a rose, pull out your chair before we eat kiss you on the cheek and say ooh girl you're so sweet It's déjà vu whenever I'm with you I could go on forever telling you what I do But where you at you're neither here or there I swear I can't find you anywhere Damn sure you ain't in my closet, or under my rug this love search is really making me bug And if you know who you are why don't you make yourself seen take the chance with my love and you'll find out what I mean Fantasy's can run but they can't hide and when I find you I'm gon' pour all my love inside."He’s explaining all the romantic things he is going to do with his love and I just feel like some men now days well at least young men are not that romantic. I feel like society for example people in the entertainment industry send a message for young men telling them it’s not good to be in a relationship, it’s better to have multiple relationships and I really like that LL Cool J was man enough to write in his song that he is a romantic man and he’s going to treat her and love her with everything he’s got and I feel like we need more men like that in the world.

In Felicia’s reflection on the song “I need love” by LL Cool J this sentence really touched me

“I’ve experienced two major heart brakes and a few tremors. I’ve spent a fair share of time staring at the wall, tears streaming down my face, yelling, “why?” followed by a dramatic, high- pitched, “damn, damn, damn!? My inclination was to blame love.” It’s the easiest thing to do is to blame love and the person. I grew up with my mother and aunties and girl cousins and the line that is most popular when they break up with their boyfriends is “I’m never going to fall in love again.” Everyone says that but really you can never avoid love it happens at the unnoticeable moments.

In Felicia Pride message “I Need Love”, she talks about how people tried to build up a wall around them so they can run away from love. To Pride love is something people can never run away from. No matter how people tried to run away, when love comes they just fall in love. It true that love can hurt other but it also brings happiness to them. Pride wants other people to not blame love is the cause to their suffering and run away from it in the fear of getting hurt. But instead, she wants other to “accept it and do not tried to resist it as love appear in front of them.” (F. Pride p.147) if people can freely fall in love without fearing of getting hurt, one day they can find they true love and live happily with the one they love.

In the song “I Need Love” by LL Cool J., he tries to show other the feeling of loneliness without love. In the song he says that he need love and is waiting for his destiny girl to appear before him. If the one mean for him appear, then he will give her all his heart. That person will be the only one he see and the only one he love. So he hopes that this person can come out before him and take away his loneliness. This feeling show when he says “When I be sittin in my room all alone, staring at the wall/Fantasies, they go through my mind/ And I’ve come to realize that I need true love” (LL Cool J).

In both the message and the song, there are all discuss about love and wanting to find real love in their life. To them love can bring many happiness to other and without love people will have to live their lives in loneliness. In both opinions states that not everyone can find real love at first tries but if they keep searching for love, people will find it. Because in everyone heart, there a space that wishing to find the love that belong to them. As Pride has said “I’m sure we’ve all spent time staring at wall and wishing for someone who understands us and unequivocally has our back.” (F. Pride p.148)

Response To I Need Love
In Felicia pride’s response to LL Cool J’s song I need Love; she said that love is needed in our lives. A person has to contain some love within himself to someone else. Love is an essential part of our society. Without it, the world would be a place to engage in violence and a place to suffer from the unloved things in a person’s life. LL Cool J agrees with this by saying “When I be sittin in my room all alone, staring at the wall fantasies, they go through my mind and I've come to realize that I need true love”. LL Cool J believes a person got to have love in his or her life.
Felicia Pride also described how people try to act like they are detached from love because love makes a person emotionally vulnerable. Love isn’t the one that makes a person vulnerable. It is the pretended love that people get sentimentally caught in and they get exposed as vulnerable people. But real Love isn’t a game, a person got to be invincible and strong to have that kind of love. Felicia pride said it herself “Real Love. There is nothing soft about it” (Pride 148). That is the love that everyone needs.
Both Felicia Pride and LL Cool J stated that people don't want to be a part of love because they think love is going to make their reputation soft. People do not understand that love is a strong part of our lives. Our reputation is not complete until we fall in love. Felicia said "There's nothing more fly than sharing your world with someone who's got you, mind , body, and soul" (Pride 146). Love doesn't transform a person into being vulnerable, instead it makes them better people. It helps build a stronger Psychological side of their reputation. In other words, having someone that is always there for you is a big help to overcome your own struggles.

"Sometimes when I’m alone in my room and I stair at the wall and at the back of my mind I hear my conscious call. Telling me I need a girl sweet as a dove and for the first in my life I see I need love” this is how the rapper LL Cool J starts off his song I Need Love. In this song the rapper LL cool J express’s his feelings about finding someone he can love. It seems that he is tired of the way things are going and one night stands. “Cant u hear it in my voice I need love bad, I got money but loves something I never had.” The rapper express’s that he wants true love, he saying that he has money but even money cant buy him the most important thing LOVE! To me it seems that he would be willing to give up the fame to find real love. Because he not focused on making more money he focused on finding love to go with it. I think LL is trying to show people that it is okay to love, u don’t have to act hard you can love someone no matter what, love is a feeling for everyone to enjoy.

"theres nothing more fly than sharing your world with someone who's got you, mind, body, and soul.forget what you heard:money, power, and respect, and combinded, can't touch the power of love."Felicia Pride said in her reflection on LL Cool J’s I Need Love she is saying that the power of true love is stronger then any amount of money or fame you can have. when you have true love its worth more then alot, she saying that love is worth taking a chance even if u have been hurt in the past. "if love comes my way, i won't resist.I'll submit to its power and hope that the relationship part works."Felicia is saying that if love comes her way she will embrace it she will not give it up. Felicia understand that if theres something you really wan u have to go for it and just believe in what your looking for.

both of this artist are looing for something deep, they are looking for love. Felicia has been hurt but even if she has she uderstands that she cant give up. Felicia has seen others let a brake-up kill love off for them, and she will not let that happen because she knows in the end she winning more than she gambled on. LL Cool J talked about how he was on the road and he had girls but he still felt lonely because it was love he was looking for.which shows love is something powerfull and can't nothing take its place.

Some posted comments on love were “Love is powerful”, “Love makes us a better person”, “Love is having someone always there for you”, “Love is live happily”.
I beg to digress and wish to share some uncommon concepts of love. Love is a personal choice. Love is not a feeling. Love is commitment to be loving in an unloving sphere. Love is an expression of self.

LL Cool J song I need love is him talking about how he is alone and lonley. He also speaks about how he regrets cheating and messing around with different girls hearts "There I was giggling about the games
that I had played with many hearts, and I'm not saying no names
Then the thought occured, tear drops made my eyes burn
as I said to myself look what you've done to her". LL Cool J is also saying that he is done playing around and is wanting to get loved in a relationship. When he made this song a lot of men opened their hearts for a loved one to come in. A lot of people are shy to let their feelings out and they always think about what friends and family are going to say about them , but when LL Cool J put out this song it helped them soften their hearts and show the love and compassion for the girl.
Felicia Pride talks about how it is normal for a man to be in loved with a woman. She also says that love is one of the most powerful thing out there "Forget what you heard: money, power, respect, combined, can't touch the power of love.” (F. Pride p.147). Some people do not realize that they loved that one person till it is gone. It is also very difficult to find that one person that you truly love and find the trust in them.
Felicia Pride says in her short story “I’ve experienced two major heartbreaks and a few tremors. I’ve spent a fair share of time staring by the wall, tears streaming down my face, yelling”. (F. Pride p.147).Pride did experience her heart being broken by two different men but that doesn’t stop her for looking for a new man in her life. It is very difficult to recover from someone that you put all your love and trust on. Sometimes things like this happen so that later on in the future it may help and benefit you.

In Felcia Pride’s The message, she picks hip hop songs that reflect on love. One of her picks was LL Cool J’s I need love. The theme of this song is that it doesn’t matter who you are, everyone needs love. Felcia tires to persuade people that love is for everyone and no one is excluded.
In LL cool J’s song he is alone and without love. Without love he is in despair and is in pain. He fantasizes what true love is but still can’t find his true love. The true love of his life is no ordinary girl. Without that girl he is a lost person missing one half of himself. In the song he seems to be talking to that girl. He tells that girl what is going on, and that he will be waiting for her.
Felcia’s response to the song is well thought and I can agree with it. It states that people are basically too hood to love. They see it as a weakness, because people may see that you are soft and vulnerable. This is an interesting subject for rappers because rappers with the topic of love are seen less les positive.

I Need Love

In the song “I Need Love” by LL Cool J, the rapper expresses a sensitive side that not many people show. Felicia Pride writes a reflection of the song informing people that it is ok to love, and be loved, which I agree with Felicia’s idea that one should be able to reveal a soft side and put their emotions out there to another person. Often I feel that people are too scared to love, not knowing what is going to happen in the future with that love. To compliment that, many are step back from relationships thinking they will get hurt, so they don’t put themselves out there to try the situation. This is a problem in our society, and the reason why people are so isolated and lonely in our society.

When LL Cool J starts to express his feelings about finding a woman to love he shows that he wants a person to share his life with, and to share his love with throughout his life. LL says “Romance sheer delight how sweet/ I gotta find me a girl to make my life complete […]”, showing that it is essential to have someone to share your life with. The overall song and pride’s reflection reminded me of when I fell in love. All my life I never knew it was really possible. I thought that all that love at first sight, and fate stuff was fake until the day I met my first love. At that moment I knew how important it was to have someone in my life that I loved more than anything. To have that person to run to no matter what, and to make you laugh, and no matter how hard things got they were still there. I noticed without that person I would be lost in life, lonely, and have no faith that love is real. His quote proves that love fills that part of a person to complete them.

Just like when children are small they have to learn how to share it is the same for adults, just in different aspects. They have to learn to share their emotions, love. If they don’t they become selfish. That's why LL Cool J repeats the phrase "I Need Love". IT gives the significance that each person is in need of having someone to love and share their love with.

I Need Love by LL Cool J

I believe what Felicia pride is saying is that very human being needs love in their life. Don’t be afraid to be loved and never to give up on love. I understand what she saying and I believe in what she said. It truth your heart have been broken before sometime but it party of human natural. Don’t tell that to stop loving again and Keep moving forward. There will be someday that you will find what you are looking for. Someone out there is waiting on you to find him or her just keep looking and you will find that person.

I watch one move it was about love I forgot the name but it a good move I learn something in the move. The move was about one woman she rich but her boyfriend was poor. He has money but not as much as her. She gives him ever thing he asked for and takes care of him but he doesn’t love her, he just loves her money. Long story short she find out he doesn’t love her and he been cheating on her. Later they broke up but she need gives up on love because her mother told her if one relationship didn’t work another one will and God never close one door without open another one.

One of the quote that ll cool j say “Romance sheer delight how sweet I gotta find me a girl to make my life complete.” Keep looking for a girl that will make your life complete do just give on love and say I will never love again because your heart has been broken with someone. “I may give dating a rest, may swear off fools, and may do me for a period of time, but if love com my way, I won’t resist. I’ll submit to its power and hope that the relationship part works.” What she saying is that don’t ever give up on love if you find love don’t fight it go with it and see where it will take you.

Felicia Pride wrote this to tell that it is not a bad thing to be loved or be in love. She wants to persuade people that it is nothing to be ashamed of (The Message 146-7). Although some are ashamed of being in love or being loved it is a good thing to have. It can help you get through tough times. Many people are worried about how others might think of them.
Pride writes “As hip-hoppers, we pride ourselves on being survivors with me against- the-world attitudes” (The Message 146). This attitude means that the hip-hopper does not need anybody but himself to go on. The attitude is like an expectation for the rappers to follow. If one of the hip-hoppers does not follow that attitude, he may lose some of his reputation. It is like forcing them to not be in love or be loved by others. Maybe they do this to show that they are from the “hood,” but I think that it should not matter if you are from the “hood” or not.
Pride states “All I know is that at the end of the day, no matter how hard you are or how high that wall is you’ve built around you, in the harsh lives we lead, love is what sustains us” (The Message 146). Although the rappers or hip-hoppers think that being loved by someone or loving someone is not “hood” enough, it is what keeps us moving forward. Nobody wants to live a life being all by themselves with no one to care for them, that is lonely.
In LL Cool J’s song, I Need Love, he says “I discovered I want love even when I reminsce.” I think that everybody wants someone to love even the tough guys who do not want to admit it. I do not understand why it is a bad thing because to me it is a good thing. In the long run, loving someone or being love is some that most people would want to have.

I really think that what Neil wrote about the rappers are thoughtful and true. I completely agree with Neil was trying to suggest. The rappers lose their reputation with other rappers about being in love.

In Felicia Pride’s “The Message” she talks about her top 100 favorite songs and what its meaning. In the song “I Need Love” by LL Cool J she talks about how people act too tough and too coward to love. Because people think that when you love someone they see you as a weak person and that you are vulnerable to anything. But no matter what, nobody can avoid or try to escape from love because love will always be there whether you realize it or not.

The song “I Need Love” by LL Cool J, discusses about how he is longing for someone to love. In one of the lyrics it clearly states that “I gotta find me a girl to make my life complete.” This lyric shows that the LL's life is incomplete because he is missing that special someone that one that will complete his lonely miserable life. I believe that in life there is that one special someone out there for everyone. Someone that will always be there for us, be there to take care of us, and most importantly that will love us regardless of who we are.

Overall, love is something that brings each one of us happiness and makes us stronger. Even though at times when we feel like love has failed us or betrayed us. Love will still remain and help nurture us and help us grow as a person. In LL Cool J's song, I agree that love is a complicated situation. It brings us a lot of pain and often times it makes us very emotional. But one thing I know for sure is that love is not easy and there's certainly nothing soft about it. There’s that famous saying that “Love conquers all”, I believe that it’s true that love can conquer it all and that it surpasses many things in life, because love is a powerful feeling that a person can achieve. Love brings out the best in people.

Response

In response to Melvyn Madden.

I agree to what Melvyn's response to Felicia Pride's article. He stated that everyone needs love and that love is something that makes people happy. He also mentioned that when LL Cool J wrote the song to express himself about love. He lost quite a few respect from others because they think that expressing love is a sign of weakness because love is not a manly thing to express.

I Need Love Reflection
On her Reflection of the song I need love by LL Cool J, Felicia Pride tries to persuade people that it’s alright to love and be loved. For some reason people try to pretend they are too tough to talk about love when in reality, love is what makes us happy. Although hip-hoppers are usually portrayed as the tough and brave ones, they are human just like everyone, and have deep feelings. Felicia wrote “Forget what you heard: money, power, and respect, combined, can’t touch the power of love.” (Page 53)That is so true because there’s nothing as valuable as the ability to love and be loved.
Before doing this assignment, I had never seen this song before, but I’m glad I did because it has a deep meaning to it. I knew that LL Cool J had his soft side; I had just never seen it. Since I didn’t bring my head phones today, I wasn’t able to listen to the song but reading it made me feel like I was reading a love poem because it’s really well written. I liked the part where he says “I’ve changed, I’m no longer a playboy on the run, I need something that’s stronger friendship, trust, honor, respect, admiration…” (4th stanza)
Although I’m still young and don’t have much experience with love, I have noticed that sometimes, guys see girls as toys, which they could play around with and once they get bored they move on to the next one. I think that if a guy doesn’t respect you, then he doesn’t really love you, and “it’s not worth losing ourselves to hold on to someone else.”(Page 53) Sometimes you need to let that person go. However, that doesn’t mean you have to give up on love because you never know when the right person might come. Overall, I enjoyed reading Felicia’s article, because I feel the same way she does.

About Felicia Pride in her reflection on the song “I need Love” by LL Cool J, tries to people that it’s alright to be loved (The message 146). After you having a difficult day, if you surrounded by love it makes you happier. The original lyrics of the song says about this feeling “When I am along in my room I need a girl who’s a sweet as a dove”. As a human been to be loved or to love someone is amazing thing what we can afford in our life time. There are such things been rich, leader etc, which can’t be compared to love.

Also the song telling about some people have a sad, unsuccessful experience in love and giving up it. That is the big part and major problem when relationships fall apart. After this experience people afraid to be looser again, afraid to feel their own not worthlessness and loose a part of them.

It is difficult to find your half and spend the life time together. Remember you are different people. Different in everything you do, you think, you eat, you like or do not like. It requires from both of you hold your selfish view, be the same part of the one big thing “Your life time together”. You build it together. Respect each other. There is always right one for you somewhere and looking for you too. You will find your happy true love always.

In Felecia Pride’s story “The Message” she gives a reflection on the song “I Need Love” by LL Cool J. She explains how people nowadays blame love or think is overrated based on the hip hop culture or on bad relationships in the past. She also talks about how she has experienced bad relationships in the past but if she encounters love again she will allow it to happen. “I may give dating a rest, may swear off fools, and may do me for a period of time, but if love comes my way, I won’t fight it. I won’t resist. Ill submit to its power and hope that the relationship part works.”(Pride147)

In LL Cool J’s song “I Need Love” he sings about how he needs love in life and he is willing to change his ways to get the girl of his dreams and to really love her, rather than lying to her like he has to other girls in the past. He talks about how he lied to girls in the past and how he needs love now because he is alone in this world. He begins to talk about what he would do, say, and feel about this dream girl he has. He talks about really giving his all, loving her to the max, and how she has changed him from being a player to a real man. “If I find you girl I swear I’ll be a good man.” (LL Cool J Verse 69)

I agree with the reflection of Felecia Pride, I think we all need love one way or another in our lives. But we have made love to look worthless or stupid or overrated. Many people have been in a relationship one way or another and some are deeply affected and think they will never love again or they are so hurt they despise love. But there are people that are still willing to give love a chance and will try to find that special someone. I think that love cannot be described in just in words alone but by actions that help that person believe that there is love despite the past.

LL Cool J lyrics speak of playing games with many women’s hearts & not meaning what he was saying. Than as he looks at what he is doing, it brings tear drops to his eyes. He can’t even explain how it feels. But inside he really does want true love. He expresses of how he is going to treat this love, he says he has money but he has never had love. He also express that he is no longer a play boy that he has changed, he wants this girl to come forward so he can show her what he has waiting for her.

We have many different loves in our life, we have family members that we love, friends & relationships that we chose to get into. We all need companionship in some form. Most of us have a hard time opening up what we really feel inside. If we continue to hold back what we want to say to one another, it can even make us sick. Then we become anger and when we do talk, it’s not what we really meant to say.

I believe everything happens for a reason and for different seasons in our lives. Some relationships touch our hearts for short periods of time. Others last for years or a life time. You may go through many toads before you find your true Prince. We make mistakes & learn many lessons along the way.

Felicia Pride in her reflection “I need love” by LL cool j, tries persuade people that its alright to love or to be loved( The message). In the song by LL Cool J her express the way he felt, he was lonely he wanted somebody to love, he wanted to stop all his playa ways in just love the one person, after every verse he just said I need love. Felicia explain, love going to hurt sometimes, everyone who you say you love or say they love may not mean it, but when you find that true love, its going to worth all those hurts. Being in love take time felicia, said “I’ll never love again, Love is for sucker”. That statement made a lot of since, because when your young you always think your in love, but when you get older everybody don’t want to fall in love because they thought they was in love but it wasn’t.

Felicia made another statement “Why”. After every break I had I always made that statement, because I thought I was in love, So I was sad so I said Why, I was so confuse about the meaning of love that, I was sad and confuse, and I wanted answer to why I was so hurt. In the son “I need Love” LL Cool J in the end of the song “ I've come to realize that I need true love”. After all the failed relationship you want to true love/real love, everyone say they may realize they found love, but you’ll know when you found that special someone. After all the hurt and pain saying or thinking your in love, your going to realize you want to be in love.

In conclusion, Loving somebody or finding people to love, Is not just for relationship or that special somebody. There also family and friends to love, that the same thing, I love my family and friend just as much, Love take time, to built that trust or special relationship you have for that person. Also, all those hurt and pain, those are all learning experience.

In LL COOL J’s song “I Need Love”, he told us that he needed love more than anything, and he is willing to get it no matter the consequences. “I'm not gonna leave it in destiny's hands, I can't sit and wait for my princess to arrive. I gotta struggle and fight to keep my dream alive. I'll search the whole world for that special girl”. He also said that although he has everything, wealth, popularity, and groupies. He still felt lonely being ‘loveless’. Many people had seen him on stage, cheering for him. But even with those encouraging cheers, LL COOL J feels alone deep in his heart. He was hoping for the time to come, for his princess to put down the rope down from her tower, and be rescued.
Felicia Pride felt what LL COOL J was going been to at the time. “I’ve experienced two major heartbreaks and a few tremors.” It was hard for her to move on, and by the time she realize that staring at the wall wont get her any better, she decided to never give up love. She told that it does not necessarily mean that she will date men numerous times, until she finds the right one. She will wait for it, she will be patient and if someone approaches her, she won’t resist. She will let time to tell if it is the right relationship, and make it work.
I’ve been in loved, and it was a great feeling. The idea every after you wake up that there is someone there loving you, was the best feeling I have had. I experienced two broke ups, and it was not pleasing at all. The sinking feeling you felt inside after the break up will haunt you every time you are alone. But I am over it; I am waiting, and now that I think I found the right one. It is just a matter of time; it could turn into a happy ending or a nightmare. I am doing what Felicia Pride said, “… but if love comes my way, I won’t fight it. I won’t resist. I’ll submit to its power and hope that the relationship part works.”

The passage I read was called "Looking at the front door", by Main Source. Its about bad relationships and people they new who struggled with it. She talked about people staying in relationships even though it should of been over long ago. It goe's on to say how she can relate to the same isues as well. Another situation was when her friend got out of a relationship because she was unhappy, but by that time it was too late because just after she broke up with him she got pregnant. In the end the writer stands strongly by their opinion and thinks that people should just walk out the door if their unhappy.
