The response of 2morrow
To be honest, I love the last sentences of this poem:"2 know I fought with all my heart 2 keep my dream alive". I think that is the core thoughts for the whole poem. Meanwhile, I extremely admit that the poem is so smart because his skill of this poem is actively. Firstly, What poet show us at the upper half of poetry are a such disappointed feeling --sad. He describe the events his is facing currently as a tragedies and rage. All of them seem to be so frustrated. However, this is not the true purpose from the poet. Actually, the poet have faith in changing everything his and his children suffering. The poet show us what is the real stuff in his mind at the lower half of the poetry, that is, confidence. As the poet says:"Tomorrow I c change, a chance 2 build anew", he must has a strong ambition to change his life, even this world. He has dream, and he is proud of himself. That is real attitude and position the poet try to tell us: instead of scaring and frustrating the life, he will fight for his dream forever.

Response to the Poem War lyrics

War is brutal, harmful and insane. Nothing gets resolved as a result of the war. Unfortunately wars continue regardless.

Just like Edwin Star says in "War Lyrics" :" What is it good for? Absolutely nothing, listen
to me war, it ain't nothing' but a heartbreaker war"(line 6-8). The most obvious consquence is the casualties on both sides. Mums lose their love sons.Wives lose their husbands. Kids lose their fathers. Unbearable pain remains in their love one's memory forever.

Health concerns is another problem after the war. Soldiers who luckily get out of the war may
have to deal with their chronic physical and psychological health condition for the rest of their life. Diseases may widespread all over the place where the war occurs resulting in more death of the innocent civilians. The cost of human life as an exchange for so call "freedom" is far beyond its worthiness.

Wars occur as a result of escalated conflicts. Conflicts seems everywhere these days.People
grow up in different groups share different value, culture, views. They may practice different religion and their perception may vary from others.Stereotype of "My way is the only right way"
doesn't work any more. Learning how to co-exist in this world by recognizing, respecting, understanding and communicating is significant important to avoid unnecessary controversy.

We, as an human being should learn lesson from the past. There is no winner in any war. War causes distress, panic and death. War deepen hatred. War causes heart broken. Only love can conquer the hatred. Peace is the only way for the solution. All the problems can be resolved via negotiation and dialogue.

Conflict and War
Conflict is everywhere. Street to street, nation to nation. With conflict brings problems and war. War brings weapons and bombs that destroy people and places at war. Once those places are bombed they are not at piece, they are in pieces. Michael Franti and Spearhead say it best in Bomb the World. Stanza three, line two and three:
“We can bomb the world to pieces
But we can’t bomb it into piece”

But where does the conflict arise? Stanza one, line two says:
“Please, tell me the reason
Behind the colors that you fly”
The answer is line two, “behind the colors that you fly”. Because persons and groups of people think they’re better than others because materialistic things and ideas. Common people may think because of cars and clothes, nations because of the economy and modernization of the communities.

What does conflict and war bring? Best said in stanza five, line three and four:
“Military madness
The smell of flesh and burning pain”
More violence and death, with possibly no resolution. More pain and suffering and left behind family members. More money spent on guns and bombs, less on the starving and ill.

The War Lyrics

After reading these lyrics something really stood out to me like how the song starts off by saying, “what is it good for? Absolutely nothing.” I knew this was going to be a song against war and giving us reasons why are isn’t good. I have different views on the war one reason why I support war is because many of my family members have fought in wars all the way back to the American Revolutionary. They fought for our freedom and I am very proud and thankful for them. It’s not an easy thing to because you’re not guaranteed that you will make it back home save or even alive.

The other part of me agrees with the lyrics when it said,” Oh, war, I despise ‘Cause it means destruction of innocent lives War means tear to thousands of mothers eyes When their sons go off to fight and lose their lives.” I feel like if I was to go to war and something was to happen to me it would break my mother’s heart in to thousands of pieces. It would also make her sick from all the worrying she would do day in and day out. War does take lives go innocent lives and all we can do is be proud that they died fighting in what they believe in. Sometimes that isn’t enough for certain parents.

“Oh, war has shattered many young man’s dreams Made him disabled bitter and mean Life is much too short and precious to spend fighting wars these days War can’t give life it can only take it away, ooh” I feel like this statement is somewhat true war can shatter man’ dreams by taking there’s lives, disabling them for the rest of their lives. War can even set post war trauma to one’s life and make them have psychological problems. At the end where it said war can’t give lives it can only take life I think war can save life’s because you have your brothers by your side to protect you. Everyone has different views on war and this song is just one view out of many, there is no right or wrong view.

Response to "War Lyrics"
What does "War" means for everyone? I think it means nothing. War alway means that your home, possession, family will be took away by the death, the damage. What can we benefit from the War? Nothing. As Edwin Starr states repeatedly :"War, huh yeah What is it good for? Absolutely nothing"(line 1). Most of innocent people becomes the victim of the war. That is what we got in the war.
War is different from conflict, and it is more complicate than a conflict. One of worst influences from war is that it kills many young man's dream because they are forced to fight with strangers. The poet depress the feeling that "war has shattered many young man's dreams Made him disabled bitter."(line 14). We cannot do anything but a heartbreak. This is ironical for God because it gives human being "peace", does it?
We are told that we need to fight for freedom. Actually, we do not have freedom as long as we are suffering from the war. Everyone has lost their right to seeking the freedom. As a result of this, everyone must stand together to against the happening of war. Edwin Starr calls for everyone in the end of poem"stand up and shout it, nothing war"(line 23). If we stop it, we get nothing but heartbreak.

reflection on the promise

This poem is a bit broad. It can relate to politics, family, and religion. Promise are made after you give so much of yourself. You have to give up on your own beliefs. "I will give u liberty, but first give me ure spirit, This I must confiscate because the evil fear it.". Change them to what someone else think they she be. That's just the way the world works. You have to choose a religion, a political party, or just follow the way you were raised. The world don't allow you to be your own person.

He talks about how all the promises that are made are usually broken. How most promise are lies. "2 be completely true is hypocrisy at its finest A trick 2 silence u". We have all witness some type of promise broken. During elections politicians lanes many promises that they know that they can't keep. in religion they tell you you must believe in a certain things are someone in order for your life to be right but no one really knows if that is true.

He wants to be his own person. Don't want to fall into a certain group or a certain belief that someone else has tricked him into being. He also want to reach out to whom reading. If you have a honest heart. You want be tricked. You wont fall for the promises. "Trickery does not succeed with those with Honest Hearts"

Marvin Gaye

Marvin Gaye’s song What’s Going On is a true eye opener. He addressed the fact of war and how it affects our mothers, brothers, fathers, etc. Almost 40 years later and this song can still be used to address our current issues such as September 11th. War is never the answer but when conflicts come to surface war is the first solution most turn to, although that does not have to always be the case.
You see, like Marvin said “…war is not the answer, for only love can conquer hate.” (Line 9) This phrase stood out the most because not only is he saying war doesn’t solve anything but he is also addressing the fact that love is the only way to conquer hate. Most people tend to forget that and instead of fighting back with love, we fight with hate against hate. That’s a lose, lose situation, when will we ever get tired of losing?
