Topical Invention

1. Topical Inventions using themes or topics from the four poems we read on pages: 21, 135, 81, and 113.

Topical Invention questions the topic, for example, "fame."

Replace the "it" with the topic.

The questions are: What is it/was it for a definition

What is it like/unlike for an analogy

What does an authority say about it for testimony

What caused it/did it cause/will it cause for consequence

2. We reviewed the Possessions Essay and with one student I went over the Parallel Structure Essay.

3. We talked about the Book Report Essay and the Social Entrepreneur assignments. Complete the Frontline World Assignment which is on-line.

Liberty needs glasses
Justice is for people to face consequences on their wrong doings. People that do things that are against the law face justice and goes to jail. But justice is unfair at times. Justice is blind because it doesn’t see what is right and what is wrong. Justice put people that were fighting for their rights behind bars but didn’t put people that did crooked things behind bars. Liberty needs to improve its sight and see what is right.

"Smile" is a pleasant or favorable disposition or aspect, it is a facial expression characterized when a person feel so happy. It was innate instinct of human being. "Smile" is like a kind of power, a power can heal everything in the world. It is also like a love, a love can defend against evils. It is unlike anger and hatred, which can swallows our mind. Fame, pride, or honor caused "Smile". Meanwhile, the beautiful world we live caused smile; love we have caused smile; bless from the God caused smiles. It did caused and it will causes only when we feel all of them is good for us. An authority says that smiling involves both a chemical and biological process. Something is amusing or enjoyable the facial muscle movements results in creating smiles that are activated for various reasons.

Liberty needs glasses
In the book, from t he book, the Rose that grew from Concrete by Tupac Shakur.
He is talking about Liberty needing glasses, because of her bumping in to Mrs Justice. He also describing about some other people bumping or bungling around the ground. This is a creative way of talking about social injustice around our own feet. How we are all trying to stay standing. In middle of the first paragraph Tupac is say saying “Both broads [Liberty and Mrs Justice] are blind as bats. Stumbling through the system.” This is a good metaphor of how Justice and Liberty, is blinded or loses sight of all the people around them. He goes on to say that “She steps over Oliver and his friend Ronnie” what he is saying that the liberty and Justice lets the get away, but is stepping or treading on the Indians and the blacks

Loneliness
Loneliness is a feeling of emptiness and solitude so people want everyone to know their name. Can having people around remove loneliness? In a crowd full of people were “everyone knows ure face”, and it’s like you’re a person of fame is where loneliness fully takes place and madness overcomes the place. When you’re never alone and never have time for your own thought, would you give it all up for a moment of physical loneliness and two seconds to have a brain. I’m sure artist might like to stay insane.

Emotion and The Power of a Smile

Emotion is an intense mental state that arises without conscious effort. Emotion is like a reaction to any event in life. Emotion is exhausting and constant. Emotion is caused by being alive and causes people to take action. Even though emotion is a reaction to life, in Tupac Shakur’s “The Power of a Smile” he writes about what people do with emotions and also what people do that can change others’ emotions. This is evident when he says, “the power of anger can rage” and “[a smile] can heal a frozen Heart.” It’s interesting how emotion can wreak so much havoc but can be changed by something so simple.

Response to loneliness

By definition, loneliness is being by oneself. It is like unhappiness because they are not with other people and they feel lack of support from the other people. It happens when they have high expectations of others and these high expectations are not met they get disappointed and depressed. If “never again R u alone” indicates author’s emotional moment.

I choose to read the poem Government Assistance or My Soul, the word that came to mind after reading it was dignity. The definition of dignity is bearing, conduct, or speech indicative of self-respect or appreciation of the formality or gravity of an occasion or situation. I feel like this word fits perfect with the poem because it’s talking about, that he rather go hungry and homeless before the American Government get his soul, in another words he would never get Government assistance. Tupac write on things that are real and that are happening to him or around him. Some people look at getting government assistance as if the government owns you or has something over your head. Me myself I feel like same way I would go hungry and homeless before as ask for help. When the economy went bad and everything started to get worse from people losing their jobs to jobs all over the world getting cut. Now the people are dealing with the consequence and are looking for extra government assistance because there are no jobs available.
